The State Quarter Program continued in 2006 with the next five designs in the series. State Quarters were issued to honor Nevada, Nebraska, Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota. This year’s designs featured a nice array of many natural beauties. This includes Chimney Rock for Nebraska, the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, and the North Dakota Badlands.

Nevada State Quarter
The Nevada Quarter was the thirty sixth coin in the State Quarter series. It was released on January 31, 20006 and features three wild mustangs. The wild horses are depicted beneath snow capped mountains and a rising sun.
Nebraska State Quarter
The Nebraska Quarter was the thirty seventh coin in the State Quarter series. It was released on April 3, 2006 and features Chimney Rock and an ox drawn wagon. Chimney Rock is a National Historic Site. The ox drawn carriage carries pioneers moving West.
Colorado State Quarter
The Colorado Quarter was the thirty eighth coin in the State Quarter series. It was released on June 14, 2006 and features the Rocky Mountains. The quarter features a sweeping view of the mountains with evergreen trees in the foreground.
North Dakota State Quarter
The North Dakota Quarter was the thirty ninth coin in the State Quarter series. It was released on August 28, 2006 and features two American Bison. The bison are pictured in the North Dakota Badlands which are now a National Park.
South Dakota State Quarter
The South Dakota Quarter was the fortieth coin in the State Quarter series. It was released on November 6, 2006 and features Mount Rushmore. This National Monument features four American Presidents. A Chinese ring necked pheasant flies above.
